Darren Sproles Brain Shock

Darren Sproles Brain Shock - Daily News, Violent, helmet-to-helmet hits have been a focal point for this NFL this season, and there was a big one administered to Chargers running back Darren Sproles on Sunday afternoon.

As quoted from nctimes.com, Oakland middle linebacker Rolando McClain led with his shoulder but struck Sproles with a helmet-to-helmet shot in the second quarter that left the diminutive player with a concussion. The hit drew catcalls from Chargers fans, but McClain was not penalized because Sproles was not ruled to be a defenseless receiver.

"He was considered a runner because the act of possession was complete; the minimum of three steps were taken," referee John Parry said. "He was deemed to be a runner, so helmet-to-helmet contact is legal. He was not considered a defenseless player." Sproles did not return, but Chargers coach Norv Turner said Sproles was feeling fine after the game.
